The cafeteria was packed. That is an understatement. One
would think graduation had never happened before, it was so under-chair
resourced. First world problems. The parents and families were all smiles and
riding on nostalgic waves of energy.
The kids marched in, heads held high, eyes seeking out loved
ones. Hands were frantically waving. A sea of smart phones rose high and
following the bi-lingual recital of the pledge of allegiance, small voices rose
in sweet disjointed harmony to sing songs in English and Spanish.
Each sweet face took center stage to state what they wanted
to be when they grew up.
Rock Star.
Soccer Player.
Mom.
Teacher.
Paleontologist.
Hair Stylist.
Singer.
Doctor.
Army.
Airforce.
Police Officer.
Diplomas were given out, tassels were turned, and our little
ones took one more step towards growing up.
