School Pictures

Oh they are sneaky! Those Lifetouch people....They come to daycare and say, "Oh we're just going to take a class shot and maybe some individuals if you want." Then they take the pictures. And print them all! They place them in your child's cubby with a note that says you can return a check or return the photos. You grab them absentmindedly thinking, oh I'm not buying these. Then you open the envelope. Sweet corn on the cob! How can I not buy at least 3 sheets?!?

Savannah Joy gets baptized!

For the record, every baptism should have lasers.  Team Smith had a wonderful day surrounded by friends and family at our Episcopal home in Chicago, Church of Our Saviour in Lincoln Park. Savvy seems to get happier by the day, even when cold water is poured over her head in the middle of a crowd. Grandpa John and Grandma Patti drove in from Detroit, and Aunt Rene and Cousin Hannah made the trek from Elgin to take part in the celebration. We even got to hang out with our dear friends the Wilmarth Tynas and Liz Gray (soon-to-be-a-celebrity), and Liz blessed us with her vocal talents and joined our quartet singing "Down to the River to Pray" (many thanks to Mike and Cate Mascari for the diverse musical selections). Per usual, Cassidy spent most of

Flower Show

The free flower show at Macy's was incredible! I cannot fathom the amount of work and time that went in to transforming a complete open space into a magical exotic bazaar. There were events going on in the kids section too. Cass was not feeling the magician..truth be told he was kind of lame. Nice, but not really engaging with the kids. After a few acts where you could plainly see the "magic" Cass stood up and said it was time to go. The zoo was on hand with creatures and insects. Neither of went to touch them, but Cass a brave girl and got real close to the hissing madagascar cockroaches while Savvy and I stood back....way back... and tried to not look! Then she got a temp tattoo spray painted on of a pony and we skipped the balloons. But we hit up the free cookies! We had such a great time, we went back a week later with Matt and his parents. Cass pointing and exclaiming, Mom, that's where Aladdin lives!!
