The Beach = Happy Place

Playing in water and napping on the sand continues to be where we find happy ☺️

A quick weekend, we drove just over 2 hours to CT. The Surfside hotel was super cute! Savvy and I joined their yoga session Saturday morning and she did a really good job. It was one full hour and the sun was HOT. A brief sad moment when I thought I was making a good decision letting Cass sleep in....turns out she really wanted to do the class too. Big, fat tears were sliding down her face at breakfast because she felt left out. So, I took her outside to where the instructor was still there, and she was kind enough to spend some time with us on a few different breaths. Did not fully soothe the feelings, but definitely brought some peace.

Matt introduced the kids to The Sandlot. That movie continues to be good! No one joined me at 5:15a for the sunrise, but I took a few pics to show them.

We spent a morning in Mystic. Home of the pizza place, tho the movie itself was filmed elsewhere. The aquarium was cute. First time seeing a beluga whale up close and we had never seen upside down jellyfish.

The downtown was lovely. They are celebrating the 100 year anniversary of their bridge. We spent a fair amount of time in the visitor center learning about the bridge- it was incredible! Probably our favorite part of the day 😂

No trip is ever complete without a peek at the library. Mystic's library was closed and we walked around the gardens. Guess we'll have to return!

Dancing

Cassidy loves to dance. So far, any type of music gets her going! In this video we were cleaning the kitchen when she decided to break out. When she saw the camera she started saying cheese because she thought it was a real camera. I hope you can see it!

After you clean your room...

This evening Cassidy revealed to me a small secret to keeping her occupied. After dinner she asked me if she could watch a show. We don't have tv, but we do have netflix through the wii on our tv and we watch all the greatness that PBS and Nickelodian have to offer! Except for Caillou because I think he's kind of whiny. Anyway, she gets to watch limited amounts of Diego, Dora, Dinosaur Train, Super Why, Word World, etc and sometimes we throw in some Cosby Show for good measure. She'll pick two shows and watch one, 20 minute episode of each and then we call it good. Well tonight when she asked for a show, I told her she could watch one episode of her favorite after she cleaned her room. She went into her room and as she started putting toys away, she started playing with them. She'd go to put books away and start "reading" them. Twenty minutes later she'd start putting crayons away, then start drawing with them. Ten minutes later she'd start putting awa...

J’s Birthday Fun! Yay 43!

For the first time in YEARS I worked on my birthday. Y'all know I take that day off! But, I had to be a grown up and a professional and show up to be part of a team of problem solvers for some stuff. So, it was fine. This is me in my office :-) When I got home, I read a book with a cup of tea! And opened presents :-) Savvy is super talented at card making. I don't know what youtube channel she watches, but her cards are always incredibly beautiful and 3D. We hit up the new Amazin Pho spot down the street. Yes, it was amazing. And we went to the Norman Rockwell museum for this exhibit. Fantastic! It is worth checking out the work online. During covid times, the artist would paint one woman a day. So many stories of everyday people doing incredible things. So much history! The mix of historical people and present day living people is inspiring.  I had a couple subpar milk frothers die on me. Because I was being frugal and thought they would last. So I got an upgrade! Way better t...
